Shortly after the birth of her daughter in 2016, Kayla began working for John D. Drake again as the domestic relations paralegal. The following year she graduated from Nashville School of Law with her Juris Doctorate. She quickly transitioned her role at Drake Drake Clarke and Freeze to an attorney. Currently, Kayla practices family law, wills and estates, and landlord-tenant disputes. Her family law practice includes adoptions, child custody, child support, dependent neglect cases, divorce, grandparent rights, and paternity.
Kayla’s interest in a career in the legal field started at the age of 11 when she witnessed first-hand the role an attorney played in helping her friend’s mother get out of a domestically abusive relationship. From there, she went on to join the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Young Explorers Program, participating in the sector that focused on law and government.
Aside from her career, Kayla loves spending time with her husband, Kyle Barrier, and three daughters. Her involvement and passion for a happy family are her motivation that fuels her drive to provide the best legal representation for her clients.
